Recap of NEB's Annual Event
On February 28, 2024, NE Basecamp hosted its Annual Campaign Kickoff Event at The Guild, with the aim of showing its impact on educators throughout the region. The event featured testimonials from education leaders, including Dr. Nicole Mathis (Assistant Principal at Classical High School), and Janine Napolitano (Supervisor of Academic Instruction at William M. Davies Jr. Career and Technical High School), and NEB board President Traci Adedeji.Â
Janine emphasized the core philosophy of NE Basecamp's approach to education: "What we teach new teachers and pre-service teachers is you can't teach kids you don't know, and it's all about relationships. And that's what every good teacher in the world and every good educator knows, that once you have developed good relationships with kids, who are people and human beings, you can teach them anything." This philosophy mirrors NE Basecamp's belief in fostering meaningful relationships between educators and students as a foundation for successful learning environments. The event served as a powerful testament to NE Basecamp's effective and transformative approach to professional development in education, showcasing its ability to enhance teaching and learning through strong, trust-based relationships. Traci Adedeji noted that there are many types of ways to support the work of NEB but donating your time, skills, or making a financial contribution.
